We released "Turn to Gold" in the early spring of 2007 and began work on the follow up almost immediately. "Borrowed Light," was a very different set. An album on the theme of our disintegrating culture, the songs ranged from cheap television hosts to beauty queens, from faded film stars, to agents as pimps.

Although we used the same band line-up as on "Turn to Gold", the sound was instantly different. I closed down the room and placed mics closer to the drum kit and amps, shutting off the air and giving the album a suffocating atmosphere. Everyone played a little harsher and firmer and, for the first time, we used clips from TV, film and vinyl to introduce and end many tracks. I used what little bottom range I have on my voice to give the tracks a darker hew and, although there were a few misfires, we were all pleased with the result.
